States: Wyoming
Miles driven: 0
Miles hiked: 1-ish?
Slept: My tent at Stoughs Lakes, Wind River Mtn Range.
10 words or less: Took bath in frigid creek, no one saw. Perseid’s meteors!

Perseid’s!

We explored the Stough Creek Lakes and had a very relaxing day in the sun. At one point, I had the lakes to myself and took a mini skinny dip to scrub off the layers of dirt and sweat I accumulated on the trip up. That’s some chilly water! I apologized to the little fishies for mucking up their pristine little pond and headed back to camp.

That night we stayed out by the lakes pretty late watching the Perseid’s meteor shower. The Perseid’s are the main reason I take my vacations this time of year and try to get somewhere without that nasty light pollution problem. It was a nice show, but I’m hoping next year for darker skies, less moon and less clouds. It goes without saying that vodka always improves the show. The guys stayed behind a while longer and got wet sleeping bags from lying in the developing dew. Me and Sonny snuggled up in my tent for the night, with Sonny burrowing down into the bottom of my sleeping bag. He stayed there the whole night keeping me company and sharing his warmth. I freakin’ love that dog so much!
